Though this is why the US has underemployment laws. If you're making $500k per year at the time of divorce it's generally illegal to make less later. You can't just quit making money because you would have to pay alimony or child support. They can actually lock you up for making less money.

The only part OP is right about is owning a business. He's going to lose the business in the divorce but if he starts a new one it's extremely difficult and expensive to track his income and assets after the divorce. Self employed fathers are notoriously difficult to go after for money without a team of lawyers and accountants

Generally if you're wealthy her lawyer is going to hire forensic accountants to search for hidden assets. They don't need to find your secret stash. They just need to show you were spending money on stuff in secret and you'll owe half or more. US is no-fault divorce. It simply doesn't matter if she cheated.
