Why do engineers at big tech make so much money? An IC4 (around 2 years experience) at meta makes like 200k. For comparison, thats roughly equivalent to average total comp for a big box store manager. Now I know the answer is going to be "supply and demand" but I am fairly certain that there are 100x people with the capability to do IC4 work at meta than the ability to run a big box store.
