Fuck, this is a stupid question, but how do I figure mortgage into my net worth? Normally debt just goes against assets in net worth, but when you pay your mortgage, then you not only pay off your debt, but build equity. If I owe 500k on my house, and I pay 200k, then my debt becomes 300k, but I gain 200k in my equity. So paying that 200k increases my total net worth by 400k. Should I just ignore home debt in factoring my net worth?
