Can the "Hormuz flows returned to pre-war levels" narrative be reconciled with the fact that crude oil prices are far above pre-war levels even though demand for crude oil is lower since many refineries are damaged and countries which before the war used to stockpile oil are instead drawing down stocks?

Obviously. Also they have way too much computer in them, cameras and internet connections and other bullshit. It's not optional anymore, it's EVERYWHERE. I'm tempted to buy a couple of my current 2008 model car and garage them at my parents' house just to have spares on hand in case I get in a bad wreck. It's outrageous.

There is no number at which I would trust the gov with my money for 30 yrs in the current circumstances. If the rate is too low you'll lose money in real terms, if the rate is too high they will change the rules so you don't get the expected return. Think about it, to outpace gov-created inflation you are handing your money to... the gov? lol. The only way I see to profit in real terms is to swing trade and that is a LOT more logistically difficult with bonds than stocks.

I'd leave it in cash at the moment, wait for a market correction in either stocks, real estate, or bitcoin, and then buy in aggressively when I see a drop of 30% or greater. But I already have plenty of investments and cash to sustain myself. If I were broke I'd invest in things I needed to get income, like a car, nicer clothes, education, and so on.
